He's Okay

Jaime just called me and said she heard, through her network of military wives and the email sent out by Mark's people that Mark is safe and so are all the men in his platoon or whatever it's called. All men are accounted for and safe.

I had to explain to Jaime what happened today. I saw the story on the news about five minutes after I last talked to her this morning, that a soldier had opened fire at Camp Liberty in Baghdad today, killing four or five other soldiers. My heart fell to my toes and froze. My stomach has been in knots. But I couldn't tell Jaime what had happened this morning. I didn't want to worry her unnecessarily. Besides, Mark is not normally at Camp Liberty, so I felt reasonably sure he was okay.

BUT... the lives of other families will be devastated by this news when they get that knock on their door, probably tonight or tomorrow. My heart and my love go out to them, even though we don't know who they are yet -- and neither do they.

Pray for the families and send them your love. They will need every single bit of it they can get.

Peace,
Amy
